Design Management
While content management refers mainly to information and structure, design management refers to the look-and-feel of your information—the visual identity.
There are two aspects of design management I'd like to discuss here:
- Ensuring consistent design styles are applied using your CMS
- Further design work during the life of your website
Consistency enhances visual identity
A consistent visual identity leads to greater customer recognition, and ultimately to increased trust within your website users.
Once your custom visual styles are established, I program them in as visual styles that combine with your CMS.
This means you never have to think about making design decisions, eg. what size font do I use, what typeface family is it, what is the exact colour, how wide will I make this pullquote? and so on.
Better yet, by programming your custom visual styles for consistency I can prevent any potentially adverse whimsies such as "Today I feel like making some headings blue, or maybe red, and bigger than usual..." and so on.
Further design work
Once your website is complete I can provide ongoing design work to ensure the visual identity is preserved. Alternatively, I can provide you with the original graphic design elements to use yourself or with another design studio.
